Visited by travelers and locals, the Palace of Versailles tends to be a beehive of activity more often than not. And, to properly arrange your royal residence tour, you need to obtain the Versailles Palace information, such as:

  • How long you may have to wait in line to enter

What Are Queuing Times to Enter the Royal Palace?

Visitors that haven't bought tickets online or don't have a pass need to wait in two lines. One is for purchasing a ticket, and the other for entering the estate. In general, the former is shorter than the latter, but it moves slowly.

So, you'll need to wait at least in one line unless you're very lucky.

The worst-case scenario would be to arrive during peak hours (roughly from 11:00 to 15:00) during the high season without a secured ticket. If so, you may need to wait over an hour, even two, to enter the palace. That said, purchasing a ticket or pass in advance could considerably shorten your queuing and extend a Versailles tour.

But, if you arrive early (or late) during the day and have a ticket purchased online, your waiting times should be short, or you might not wait at all.
